Starting out in hypnotherapy
The first step in a career in the world of clinical and cognitive hypnotherapy is to complete a substantial hypnotherapy diploma course with an accredited qualification. There are many schools and organisations offering courses and some are better than others. Some offer a traditional approach, using scripts and directive hypnotic language, others are highly theoretical with little interaction with people as subjects, and there are a few that include supervised sessions with real clients. Whichever type of course you choose, it is important that it is accredited with the country's largest hypnotherapy organisations. The main recommended qualification is a Dip Hyp (Diploma in Hypnotherapy).
Once you are on the path of a career in clinical and cognitive hypnotherapy there is no end of areas in which you can specialise or concentrate. And there are plenty of further qualifications and much knowledge to gain along the way.
